Coach Gary Wilson

After graduating from Bethel Park in 1975, he attended Central Florida Community College with a focus to play as much baseball as possible, made easier by the favorable weather conditions that Pennsylvania's northern climate can't provide. After his return to the area, Wilson joined the ranks of WPIAL coaches, serving five years at Mt. Lebanon as a varsity assistant, and one year as junior varsity coach at North Allegheny.

Wilson eventually moved on to coaching the Hampton baseball team. Hampton has made the playoffs seven of the past nine years, with two WPIAL title appearances in 2004 and 2010.

Wilson's ability to work on fundamentals and hone skill sets became a hallmark of his coaching style. Technique, positioning and mental conditioning are the cornerstones of good players and good teams.

Developmental Softball Showcase

Sunday, November 13
Players Entering 9th - 12th Grade

North Park Sports Complex is hosting a Developmental Softball Showcase on Sunday, November 13th for players entering 9th through 12th grade. The showcase will be led by Frank Velasquez, Jr, Katie Hedderman, and Gary Wilson, former Hampton HS Baseball coach, along with a team of AHN sports trainers and current HS softball coaches. Showcase check-in will begin at 8 am and the players will begin warm-ups at 8:45 AM and the event will conclude at 12:30 pm.

This event will be limited to 50 players and focus on teaching/skill development. There will be five group stations, with 10 players in each group. Players will spend 30 minutes at each station. We will have five group stations including hitting, running, infield, outfield, and AHN Sports Performance.

Get your “Kinetic Chain” Assessment with AHN Sports Performance and Physical Therapy. The KC assessment will tell us where one may be tight, loose, weak, or too strong. This information can identify potential “red flag” areas that may lead to injury if not addressed. Once we identify these areas of focus we will provide the stretches and/or exercises to help correct the issue at hand. Achieving skeletal alignment is key prior to building lean mass to one’s frame.

Early Bird rate of $120/player until September 13.  Registration goes up to $150 after September 13.
